Preheat the oven to 360°F.

Peel and dice the apples into relatively small pieces.

Grease an ovenproof dish with a little butter and add the diced apple. Sprinkle with 1 1/2 tablespoons sugar and 1 teaspoon cinnamon, and mix well. Spread out the apple dice.

Make the crumble. To do this, combine the flour, 1 1/2 tablespoons brown sugar, 1 tablespoon cinnamon, and the butter cut into diced pieces in a bowl. Rub the butter into the other ingredients until coarse crumbs form. Pour the crumble mixture over of the apple pieces, covering evenly.

Bake until the crumble has turned a golden color, and the apples are bubbling, about 40 minutes.

Serve this dessert with vanilla ice cream for guaranteed success.
We used brown sugar, but you can also use white sugar.
