Take the the lentils out of the can, rinse in a strainer under running water, and drain well. Mash with a fork (or in the food processor).

Put a little oil into a skillet and lightly fry the onion and carrot over medium heat, stirring often. After 5 minutes, add the lentils and soy sauce. Fry for 3 minutes, stirring often. Remove from the heat and turn off the stove.

Add several tablespoons of cooked rice to the skillet. If you don’t have any cooked rice in your fridge, we explain how you can make it in the tips and tricks section. Mix all the ingredients well. Let cool a little and refrigerate for 30 minutes to solidify the mixture.

Tips & Tricks
Do you need to cook some rice? No problem! Here’s how to do it. Put 1 tablespoon olive oil in a pan and heat. Then slice up a garlic clove and add. When the garlic starts to color, add 1 cup rice. Stir for a couple of minutes and then add 2 cups hot water and 1 teaspoon salt. Cook over high heat for 7 minutes, then reduce and simmer for 8 more minutes. If the rice has absorbed all the water in this time but is still hard, add a little more water. Let stand for a few minutes.
