Instructions
1
Wash and cut the tomatoes into small dice. Mince the onion and cilantro. To make the pico de gallo salsa, combine the tomatoes, onion, and cilantro in a bowl. Squeeze the juice of half of the lime (you can use lemon if you don’t have any lime) over the top. Season with a little salt. You can also add a little hot sauce if you want a little heat. Stir well and set aside.
2
Cut open the avocados, scoop out their flesh, and mash with a fork. Season the avocado flesh with a pinch of salt and set aside.
3
Season the ground meat with salt and pepper. Heat a little olive oil into a skillet. Lightly fry the meat for 2–3 minutes. Turn off the heat and set aside for later.
4
Heat the tortillas on both sides in a hot skillet and assemble the tacos. Start by filling the tortillas with a little avocado. Then add ground meat, a little salsa, a little more avocado, and finish by sprinkling with cilantro. Repeat the operation to make all the tacos.
Tips & Tricks
Serve with lime halves and hot sauce, so that more lime juice and hot sauce can be added as desired when eaten.
How about a vegan or vegetarian version of these tacos? Its really easy. Replace the ground meat with TVP. They’ll taste just as amazing. All you have to do is prepare the TVP according to the instructions on the package. When it’s ready, fry in the skillet as if it were ground meat. The rest of the recipe is the same.
